MOMto2Kitties Ed Hardy LOVERS.............BEWARE of FAKES on eBay! Dec 6, 2008 9:10 AM Now that Ed Hardy has become so very popular..........PLEASE BEWARE of trying to get an item for much cheaper on eBay!! Especially the T-shirts! It is very EASY for someone to get a plain T-shirt and copy a print onto it. I am not saying this of all eBay sellers, but do your research first before you bid. Otherwise, you may end up with a fake and be very unhappy. Whenever an item becomes "HOT"..........the unscupulous sellers take advantage. TIP...........If a seller is selling something for MUCH less than in the stores, it should make you wonder HOW they can do that. Something to think about, EH? ED HARDY T-SHIRT
MOMto2Kitties ARE YOU NEW TO EBAY? THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR! Sep 2, 2008 2:47 AM ARE YOU NEW TO EBAY? THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR! HERE ARE A FEW TIPS TO PREVENT YOU FROM BUYING AND ENDING UP WITH A POSSIBLE PROBLEM! 1.) ALWAYS CHECK A SELLERS FEEDBACK NUMBER! If a seller has below 99.4%, be aware when thinking to bid! Also, even though they may have a high number, click on their number and see how many negative feedbacks they have. If you see numerous negative comments from buyers, think carefully about bidding. 2.) CHECK WHAT TYPE OF PAYMENT SELLER TAKES. If a seller only takes money orders and not PAYPAL (which protects buyers) be aware. Without PAYPAL, you have no protection against getting your money back if item is damaged, soiled or broken, etc. IMPORTANT-----MOST seller's will NOT accept returns if the item does NOT FIT! If they do not have the measurements listed, email them through eBay's "ask seller a question" and ask for the measurements, otherwise you may end up stuck with something that does NOT fit. 3.) ALWAYS FEEL FREE TO ASK SELLER ANY QUESTIONS. If a seller has nothing to hide, they will answer your question. I have asked seller's simple questions with NO reply! In this case, I do not bid on that item. Any honest seller should be more than willing to answer all questions to make a sale. 4.) I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING "BANK TRANFERS" TO OVERSEAS SELLERS. With all the identity fraud these days, I would never pay by this method! Also, you have no way to get your money back if there is a problem with the item or you do not receive it. Think about it, they are in another country, you have no recourse against them by paying this method. 5.) CLOTHING! If a seller does not put the measurements in their listing, ask them for the measurements. As we all know, not all brands fit the same and if you know the measurements, you have an idea if the item will fit! 6.) ILLITERACY. If a seller has numerous misspellings in their listing, I would be careful as this seller may not be too bright. 7.) HIGH SHIPPING FEES. If a seller has a high shipping charge, try to find the same item with a lesser charge or ask the seller if they can ship at a cheaper rate. I sell on ebay and know when I see a high shipping charge, the seller is trying to make money off you. I have seen listings for the same item I may be selling, yet their shipping charge may be $3, 4, 5 and up! Ebay prohibits inflated shipping charges! 8.) INSURANCE! Ebay prohibits sellers from asking more than the Postal Service requires for shipping. If you are in doubt about this, go to USPS.com and check the rates. Rates are calculated at the end of the auction for the EXACT amount you paid JUST for the item. The post office does not cover the cost of shipping! 9.) BE AWARE BEFORE YOU BID! If you are unsure of bidding on a certain item, ask a friend or family member who may be familiar with eBay what they think. When you have bought a few items, you will learn how to deal with good and bad sellers. 10.) JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT IT NOW.....................Please do not pay more than you are willing just to have a certain item. I have waited and found better quality items at better prices. I know it is exciting to find something you love, but if it's an especially a high priced item, I would wait till another comes along. I can honestly say that since 2001, when I began on eBay, there is nothing I have not been able to find sooner or later. Also, be aware that sellers charge more at Christmas! Some think if they sell then, they will get higher bids than selling at other times of the year. 11.) WHEN A NEW AND POPULAR ITEM COMES OUT.........Don't buy it right away! A perfect example is Harry Potter books. When they were first released, buyers were willing to pay ANYTHING! Now, if you check, they are selling for much less and some are reselling them after they have read it at much lower prices. I hope this has helped you to be aware of certain things when buying on eBay!
MOMto2Kitties How to buy clothing on eBay. Sep 2, 2008 2:43 AM I Have bought many items of clothing on eBay and learned quite a lot, Good and bad! Here are some important tips I hope will help you. 1.) First, most important......always check the measurements the seller lists. Not all sizes and manufacturers run the same in size. If a seller does not have the measurements listed, use the "ask seller a question" option. Many sellers do not accept returns, so if you do not ask for the measurements, you may end up with an item you can never wear! 2.) Look closely at the photos the seller provides. All cameras are a bit differing on the true coloring of the item. This can also be affected by how much lighting is used when taking the photos. Again, if you are looking for (example....deep red), the photo may not show it is exactly the color you want. Feel free to ask the seller exactly what shade of color or if the photo seems to have been taking under little light, you may not see the exact coloring. You can also ask the seller to provide you with additional photos that are under better lighting. 3.) ALWAYS...........Check the seller's feedback comments. If you see comments such as "item never received", "item not as described", "seller is difficult to deal with"....or any other such comments, BEWARE! If a seller has a few hundred sales and up, one bad comment is not a problem. It could simply be from a difficult buyer! Just checking the feedback rating..........is not enough. You really need to see how many negatives and neutrals the seller has and what comments were left by the buyers. 4.) Some sellers put in their listing that item's come from a "pet-free and smoke-free home". Many sellers do not put this in their listings. If you have ALLERGIES to cats, dogs or smoke........be SURE to ask the seller before you bid. This is especially important when buying USED clothing. 5.) If you are on a budget or do not wish to pay DRY CLEANING bills, ask the seller what the clothing tag says about washing. If you don't, you may end up with a continously costly item. 6.) Take a VERY good look at the photos of an item. If it appears wrinkled, sloppy, etc., be aware this seller does not appear to take care of it's clothing items! 7.) Most "Designer" clothing items tend to run smaller. AGAIN, be sure to ask for the measurements if they are not provided in the lsiting. 8.) If you are thinking on bidding on a used item, and the seller does not list any flaws (if there are any), feel free to ask if you want a pristine item with no holes, snags, stains, tears, etc. Often, sellers who have many items of clothing listed may not have or take the time to completely check an item for any flaws. Ask the seller to double check and completely go over the item you want and let you know if anything may be wrong with it. 9.) Be WARY of "lots" of items, this is when a seller lists a bunch of items in one listing. Mostly, they are used and have been worn and may be stretched out, faded or may have some damage. Personally, I will not take a chance at something like this, but if you wish to......please give very careful thought before bidding. In my opinion, I do not care how inexpensive they may be, and you think..."WOW, what a great deal!".....you may end up with a bunch of junk you would never wear. 10.) Sellers are not always honest!!! Again, check their feedback comments from other buyers to see if they are satisfied with a certain seller. I learned the hard way. I bought 2 items from a seller that were listed as "excellent condition" and they turned out to be junk! 11.) Remember, if you are looking for a certain brand/style, WAIT until you find one you feel comfortable buying. Sooner or later, you always see another for sale. Don't buy the first one (if you are unsure of its quality), simply because you want it. 12.) I hope I have helped you to avoid some of the mistakes that can be made when buying clothing on eBay. Above all..........NEVER be afraid to ask the seller any questions you may have! I have learned this is the best approach. ALSO, be sure you feel comfortable bidding on an item. As I said, most sellers do not take returns. This means you may be stuck with junk!!! GOOD LUCK ON BUYING CLOTHING AND I HOPE THESE TIPS HAVE HELPED YOU!
