Here is what I do! When I see something such as clothing in a magazine and really want it.....I go on eBay and you can always find it. BUT....sometimes you have to wait a few months for it to come down in price. If the item is brand new and very hot, prices will be high at the beginning, but if you keep watching for it, you can really get awesome deals. What I do is rip pictures of items out of magazines and have them by my computer and check almost daily. A perfect example is Target's "GO" designer line of clothing. Sure, lol, I have seen buyers pay way more than the item cost, but they are the ones who have no patience to wait. I wait and watch for a few weeks or months and I have gotten brand new items with the original tags for as cheap as $4.99! The problem is people with no patience want it right away and they pay over what Target was charging, how insane, lol!!! My advice is just to chill, keep checking and you will always find what you want, sooner or later. Ohhhh, and buying off-season will get you deals like you never expected. Right now, sellers are trying to get rid of Winter items, so prices are very good. Same thing with Summer items, look for the best deals around August. I recently got a Summer, very darling Michael Kors wicker and leather, clutch purse, new with tags for less than half of what Nordstrom's was charging! Since there are so very many items on eBay, try to make a list of items you want and keep checking.
